Tether Talks speaker series

Between 2014 and 2019 I initiated and programmed a near-monthly internal speaker series at Tether designed to engage and inspire my coworkers. Always on the lookout for engaging personalities with a unique story, I attracted a global roster of artists, designers, musicians, and writers. My ideal speaker was not someone only wanting to share a portfolio, but someone with a cause, project, or unique point of view—from a self-described “sci-fi, hip hop, artist/activist geek” to “an official USDA pollinator researcher who happens to be a poet and banjo player.” Despite having no real budget, I lured in speakers from around the world—Athens, Beijing, Beirut, Havana, Istanbul, London, Rome, Tehran, and Tokyo—primarily by asking nicely, but occasionally through (well-deserved) flattery.
